This is inaccurate. A cup is a volumetric measurement, which doesn’t reliably measure a specific mass.

Individual bags of flour can vary enough in volumetric mass that it makes a noticeable difference in the final result. Because of this, and because “cups” and “spoons” are actually nowhere close to the size of actual cups and spoons, American recipes are notoriously unreliable.

Prefer mass measurements for your recipes ! The metric system can save you from inexplicable kitchen failures !
