Yeah. The little amount of financial literacy that I have, I got from experience; it was never taught to me by the school system.

Hmm, you are right. But this is not knowledge that is taught to us. So, the main problem is politicians limiting the information given, no?

Thanks for the explanation, but keep in mind that this is not only about the US. I am Portuguese, and this is a problem here, AFAIK. Nonetheless, this would simplify the tax calculation.
Yeah. I guess the most important thing is to educate people, something that politicians haven’t done, because they know that people wouldn’t vote in them, if they were educated.
We need to rid our society of greed, jealousy, and hate. But that is also in our genetics, so it will take a lot of effort.
We (the people) desperately need to find a balanced solution, one that slowly makes people realize that capitalism hurts them, and that the only way is to make the richest people max. 3 times richer than the very poorest. And there should be a point where money is not a thing, anymore. However, that conclusion will only happen in decades, if not centuries.
But the Democrats are the lesser evil of two. Just because you vote in the lesser evil doesn’t mean you can’t fight it, later on. Bernie Sanders knew he most likely wouldn’t win, so he focused on fighting the Greater Evil: Trump, and the MAGA mob.
So, do those minority protections have to be implemented in the Constitution of the country itself?
I actually thought about including that (counting abstaining as voting for no party/leader) in the post, but the problem would be people voting for the Greater Evil, because they don’t really want to vote. But it would, indeed, lower the amount of people who don’t vote.
You just made all of the points that I was thinking about.
Yeah, and the EU should immediately step up, and triplicate support for Ukraine.
Yeah, sorry. Haven’t learned to navigate around Lemmy, yet

As a Portuguese natural born citizen, I support this! Although some regulations would have to be changed, in order to have parity with the rest of the EU.
It is a good place, but it does not necessarily have a lot of good people. We also have quite some ignorants, similar to the 'Murican ones. Another thing is that Portuguese is not very easy to learn or pronounce, especially the more neutral accent (the pseudo-Lisbon one). My suggestion is to pick a place you’d like to visit, and specialize your information, for that area. Anyway, good luck!
My country (Portugal) is a quite good place, but please don’t buy or rent any overpriced house, because that makes it too expensive for the poorest citizens (minimum salary is less than 900 euros per month).
A fine point, but Lemmy.ca is geared towards Canadians, not exclusive to them.
Fair enough, but I am from Portugal, so I do feel the issue.
Yeah. I personally think that a mathematical curve would address that.
