The 81-year-old president said he’s bowing out after remaining defiant for weeks in the face of calls to withdraw from the 2024 race.
Now take Harris with you

The cop that came in last in the primary is the viable option?
Yeah Harris has zero shot at beating Trump.
A literal prosecutor, vs a literal criminal, might be able to make an effective dichotomy of democracy vs fascism in (somehow) still undecided voters.
But who knows, you wouldn’t be happy unless Biden announced he was dropping out in favor of literal Joseph Stalin risen from the grave.
Stalin would never run as a democrat, he would denounce them like I do. If given the choice between a capitalist POS and a communist, the communist or socialist would get my vote. I would rather vote for what I want in government and not get it, than vote for something I don’t want and get it anyway
Go home, Russian propaganda.
Lmfao
Good man.
Now let’s get this done.
What a stupid comment. Biden was getting stuff done. Everyone was cool with it until he said “I’ll tax the billionaires.”
If Trump wins, and god I hope he doesn’t win, we’ll totally deserve it, for being the party of ADHD.
What is it like, being that sure of… anything?
I hope you get to find out one day on your own.
I hope that I never am fully blind to my own limitations.
I think you already are, and I’m not even talking about the thread topic.
Biden was shaky at best. I doubt there was a real chance he would have survived four more years of the most stressful job in the world (for an honest person, trump of course doesn’t work like that).
I think he did the right thing, and his administration was very successful and more progressive than I think most of us expected. I’d vote for him again, but I don’t think it was best for everyone.
I can’t comment on him enduring four more years of leading the nation, but he would have won the votes. He was never my top option in the past. But at this point, the democratic party is playing with fire. Let’s just hope it pays off.
I thought leaving him in was playing with fire.
Nope. Because now the party is in real disarray. Mark my words: if Trump wins, it will be because of what happened today. And the democrats are to blame. Yes, yes, Russia, China, Iran, all doing an excellent disinformation campaign, yes, yes, the GOP is compromised, etc. But ultimately, the democrats opened the floodgates of opportunity for Trump to win “because the gates looked too rusty and we need to replace them.”
Biden was fine. And I didn’t even like Biden. I would have preferred Sanders over him or Clinton. But we know what the elite dems did to him.
They were going to lose if he stayed in.
No, they weren’t. But anyway, it doesn’t matter at this point. We will never know.
Biden was far better of a President than I thought he’d be. But the way our dumb media works, and the way our elections are done, there is almost no way he was going to win after that debate performance. Then pile on the performances after that.
Trump and lie, lie, lie and openly state he’s going to be a dictator out for personal vendettas and the “liberal media” is going to maybe mention that, then move on to talking about how frail and senile Biden is. Even if he’s only lost a bit of his edge.
Let’s have a primary of sorts, and pick the candidate that can most likely WIN.
See, that’s the issue with this country. There is a dude who dry-humps all your moms without their consent, and calls her a whore, on one side, oh, but the dude who is trying to stop the dry-humping is the one who’s not good because “the debate!!!”
I can’t comment on him enduring four more years of leading the natio
That is exactly what this is about, not that he hasn’t done the job until now.
No. This is about him saying he would tax the billionaires, and the billionaires freaked out.
Exactly why Sanders didn’t win the nomination when he went against Clinton.
…is it? I’ve not seen anyone mention such a thing.
Why would they?
Good. He will be remember well for this.
I’m voting for any D, no matter what.
It’s a hard thing to come to terms with losing your edge with age. I’m glad he listened to reason in the end.
Did he listen to reason or was he pushed?
I wonder what straw broke the camels back.
Best news I’ve seen in a while. We sure could use some good news…
After weeks of republican pressure… Who the fuck is running now? Only fucking trump.
No, it was the elite democrats who put the pressure. They heard Biden saying “I’ll tax the billionaires” and that was it.
Edit: Downvoted either by Trump sympathizers or people brainwashed by said elites. The media campaign was relentless.
Everyone who thinks I’m a moron is a Trumper or brainwashed
How can man be so based?? Teach me
When can you start?
No, it was a whole host of people who are pragmatic and understood that he will not win. Trump is way ahead in the polls.
The polls mean nothing. There are better ways to know how Trump was going to lose AGAIN against Biden. But it doesn’t matter now anyway.
Why do they mean nothing? What other ways?
In my experience, the polls have been inaccurate in the last three elections. They always claim that one candidate is above another by a large margin, and then the actual numbers are quite different.
Hell, the polls gave Clinton the victory in 2016 lol! And Biden’s “blue wave” never happened.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polling_for_United_States_presidential_elections
They don’t seem very inaccurate to me. The polls showed Clinton would get more votes, which she did, but didn’t see Trump’s gains where it mattered.
They talk about Gallup, though. Were you referring to Gallup polls earlier too? (Genuine question…)
That’s a death knell if he did. Bernie said the same thing at the end of this interview: https://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/amp/rcna161541
Don’t you think that if those people actually cared that much about their taxes, they’d just vote for Trump? And is it really that unrealistic that he simply recognized how bad his numbers were?
To be frank, I’d like to know what was said to him that he decided to bow down.
I think you made it pretty clear that you’ve already made your mind up on what was said to him to bow down. That is what I’m criticizing.
No, I didn’t, otherwise I wouldn’t have asked. So, please, enlighten me.
You didn’t pose a single question in either of your comments. So how about you ask one before you ask for an answer?
I’d like to know what was said to him that he decided to bow down.
But sure, if you want to pedantic, here it is:
What was said to him that he decided to bow down?
Give me a Jon Stewart / Katie Porter ticket!
No more people over 65 for any elected office.
That’s a bit too restrictive
Is it? 70?
Age ≠ Ability
Yet age related illnesses seem to be a big issue in US politics.
Do all old people get illnesses at the same rate? Or the same illnesses?
He’s not in any sort of mental decline. He has a podcast, listen to the guy.
I agree Bernie is pretty sharp. But Bernie is, in many ways, a unique case. We have a minimum, 35, we should have a max, 65.
That gives presidential candidates a good opportunity to gain life and work experience. It also keeps the ideas fresh and out of life long political careers. Anyone over 65 can be hired as a consultant, or one of many other positions. States obviously set their own rules for local governing, but I think it should apply locally too.
That would be rather ridiculous. Age is just a number (especially as we may be on the precipice of age slowing/age reversal). I’d be for reliable mental acuity type of screening.
Exactly! Since the the eldest has survived longer than anyone else, they clearly kniw the most sbout survival.
Therefore, our society should have the eldest person alive make all the descisions, since they clearly know how to survive best!
