I’m trying not to read too much into the fact that Reddit is down right now, but I’ve noticed pages have been increasingly slow to load lately, and I get a lot of messages about server errors even just voting on comments. It seems like they’re barely even keeping the lights on. Anyone else notice the same thing?
this keeps happening, and then eventually Reddit will be down for good
Reddit is the next Digg
Remember the digg effect? Remember the reddit effect? Is the lemmy effect next? 😂
It’s more like twitter -> X.
Making it shit, slow, and littered with adds. So it can be ✨profitable✨
One can only hope.

They were never trying lol
Been having the same experience, when i land on reddit, on mobile, the page never loads, just the header with the reddit logo. After a few reloads, the page loads.
I think they are intentionally messing with the web version, making it a pain in the ass to use. They want people on the app.
Can’t make the app any good so they have to make the website suck more.
Old reddit’s day are numbered.
Images in particular have been very slow for me lately.
They are purposefully slowing down old.reddit.com. Expect a lot of refugees when its inevitable shutdown happens.
Anyway, infrastructure mismanagement is typical for late-stage enshittification. Value of the company goes down, and execs who have sold their shares high are quietly stealing equipment from the datacenter to get some value out of it. (Not literally, they just fire any techs who suggest overdue upgrades and give themselves a bonus for making such a difficult decision.)
