The way third parties are being shut out this election cycle really highlights how undemocratic the US actually is. Democrats are shutting out their spoilers, Republicans are shutting out their spoilers, you are not allowed to vote for anyone but the two ruling parties.

It’s on them, all they had to do was file the paperwork correctly. Nobody is banning them or shutting them out.

We are talking about a party that gets less than one percent of the vote - even in polling that isn’t subject to ballot laws. The will of the people is not really being misrepresented here.

Can you give me your best example of a Socialist country that represents democracy?

This is patently false. Why are you lying?

No one should vote for these green or third party candidates because they are not serious or legitimate.

They disappear after every election and do nothing for downballot candidates.theyre also paid by foreign actors.

In YOUR opinion. But I, and many others, do and will vote third party. No matter how mad you are.

Having said that, I wouldn’t vote for West.

This clearly wasn’t a problem before this year. The parties just did what they usually do, but now unknown rules that were never enforced before are suddenly a problem. Oh and the rules are different in every single state. They’d need to hire a legal team to get nationwide ballot access.

Tedious libshit - oh we’d love to have a democratic process, but you didn’t jump through all the procedural hoops in exactly the right way (rules we made up and were never voted on lol). Sure they rules are different in every single state and are selectively enforced, but rules are rules!

The rules are made up and the game doesn’t matter. Also the rules are hidden behind layers of procedural nonsense and you only find out you broke the rules after the fact.

It shouldn’t require hiring a legal team to get ballot access. My only point is this isn’t a democratic process.

also, the democrats literally don’t have to jump through these hoops, so tehy can spend their time and money making sure others don’t get on the ballot.

I don’t disagree that it’s not democratic and full of bullshit rules. But don’t complain you can’t win a shitty game if you don’t play by its rules.

And if you want a different game you need to kick the table over.

Sure, but let’s remember what I actually said: what’s happening highlights the undemocratic nature of US elections.

How we respond to that is important, but it doesn’t change my original point!

There are far, far better examples of the undemocratic nature of US elections than having deadlines for filing paperwork.

And if a party can’t even get paperwork filed on time, how are they going to do anything more significant?

It’s still a useful example for third party voters to learn an important lesson.

No arguments that these third parties are woefully inadequate.

Absolutely agree. Even me posting about third parties here has brought more hate and mockery than I’ve ever experienced, even on Reddit! People can be toxic. lol

But all the backlash has only made me more determined to keep posting news about third parties!

Yeah, the problem isn’t the articles you post, those are fine. Trying to misdirect onto that is a strawman. People don’t like you due to how you engage in comment sections with the people that want to talk about those articles.

Until our voting system is changed from First-to-the-Finish to Ranked Choice, it’s impossible for a third party to be a legitimate option.

I would love to see a third party candidate be successful, but if these third parties can’t even complete their paperwork on time and take opposition party funding, they are not legitimate.

What percentage do the names of the literal entirety of current elected green officials you listed, as granularity as local elections, represent of the total elected positions? Hint: in 1992 that total was about 520,000 people.

Edit: lol didn’t even realize you included former appointments.

Friend, I’m not voting for her. But the green party does more than just run for president. Now if you wanna argue percentages, ok, cool. But they do run for offices, as I’ve shown you.

With something like 50% appointment rate, largely due to uncontested elections. In other words, less than 250 run compared to 520k other party contenders. This is less than .05% green, yet they think they should be on 100% of presidential races.

Didn’t ask you to explain anything. I wouldn’t believe your “explanation” if you gave one.

So then what’s the point of accusations then? Because you’ve just admitted that you will believe what you wanna believe. So maybe you should let it go.

Some things are true, whether you believe them or not. And I’ll keep posting any articles that I find interesting. Thank you! :)

I didn’t make accusations did I? Look, you’re welcome to block me of you don’t want to see my comments on the articles you post.

Voting 3rd party in a US election = not getting a say in which of the actual candidates gets elected. I’ll keep reminding folks about that unless you’re trying to say certain viewpoints shouldn’t be freely expressed…

You have a narrative you wanna push, all because I am not voting for you candidate.

I’m fine with you being against 3rd parties. You keep arguing against them, I’ll keep arguing for them. Unless you’re trying to say certain viewpoints shouldn’t be freely expressed.

I’ll keep posting. And you keep posting.

As long as the news reports on them, I’ll post them. :)

Woah. I’m not anti 3rd party. Don’t put words in my mouth.

It’s just stupid to vote for any third party in this election. I think we should have ranked choice and a number of election reforms to allow for viable 3rd parties. But 2 months before a wanna be dictator is on the ballot isn’t the time.
