Summary

A new WalletHub poll reveals that 74% of Americans believe Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs will worsen inflation, which remains a major concern for most households.

Trump’s plan includes significant tariffs—up to 60% on Chinese goods and 20% on other imports—to protect American jobs and address issues like fentanyl production and border security.

Experts warn these tariffs could increase consumer prices, with middle-income families potentially losing $2,500 annually.

Analysts caution Trump’s plans may face political hurdles in Congress despite his economic-focused campaign promises.

Yep. Fuck everyone that bothered to vote against the fascists. Fuck everyone in a blue spot in red states that voted against the other idiots around them.

Or - maybe we realize that people should actually bother to vote even if they have to vote for a candidate that doesn’t align 100% with their values.

Even if Harris won, that wouldn’t have changed anything materially with the country. There’s a deep rot in the country, and it’s just getting worse regardless of who’s winning elections.

This is not true. I don’t understand why you’re even saying this obvious both-sides propaganda after the election. Harris would not have tanked the economy like Trump’s about to. Biden recovered the damage trump did in his first term and it’s reasonable to think Harris would have continued that trend.

Only if you think slapping a coat of paint on a dilapidated house makes it livable again. Republicans want to turn the country into a dystopian nightmare, and Democrats have proven time and time again through their actions that they’re more than willing to, at worst, help it along, or at best, do nothing to stop it.

You can choose to believe the empty promises and hopium, but I don’t. A bunch of sycophants who are more preoccupied with deflecting criticism than actually wanting to fix things or hold politicians accountable aren’t going to change my mind. The 5 word responses that amount to little more than meme or bumper sticker phrases just proves that your position is indefensible.

You can choose to believe that being overtly evil is the same thing as being neglectful but it just makes you look like either a liar or asshole.

I’d argue the person who defends abhorrent actions just because they’re being conducted by their “team” is the liar and the asshole. They’re lying to themselves about doing “good” and being an asshole by propping up these destructive politicians to the detriment of us all.

Republicans being evil doesn’t make Democrats the good guys. We don’t live in a Marvel movie.

No one is doing that but you’re working hard to make 2016 and 2024 the default moving forward.

Wrong again. That’d be the DNC since they run the party and keep choosing these right-wing status quo dinosaurs that can’t win elections. You forgot to include the incredibly narrow 2020 win for Biden in your list too. He nearly lost despite being in tne midst of Trump ruining the economy and letting a plague run wild.

It’s support like yours and an unwillingness to hold them accountable for refusing to stand against Republicans and backing right-wing candidates that made the past three presidential elections as terrible as they are. It’s definitely a trend under their leadership.

If Trump lost in 2016 abortion would still be legal and pregnant women wouldn’t be dying of sepsis.

          You are demonstrably wrong.

And if Dems had passed single-payer instead of a Republican healthcare plan when they had a supermajority in 2010, thousands of people wouldn’t be dying from lack of adequate healthcare and people wouldn’t be cheering about a healthcare CEO getting executed in the street in 2024.

If they’d boosted the minimum wage at any point since 2009, maybe so many people wouldn’t be living in their cars or in tents on the sidewalk.

If they’d fought harder to maintain Obama’s SCOTUS nomination in early 2016 instead of “waiting until after the election,” or fought against Trump nominating someone a month before the 2020 election, abortion would still be legal.

If they actually stood for the principles that they claim to, our weapons and tax dollars wouldn’t be currently being used to turn tens of thousands of Palestinian men, women, and children into red mist.

Trump is just a symptom of the rot that I’m speaking of not the cause. It doesn’t matter if he wins an election or not because there’s a lot more like him lining up to hold office.

If that’s your response, then you have no basis to complain about abortion rights, Trump, or anything else. Everything and every injustice can be boiled down to “the world isn’t perfect,” so we might as well throw up our hands and just accept it all, right?

Whether you deny the nhialistic outcome or not, you can’t deny the reality of our situation and the trajectory of things.

I agree. Let’s just hit the giant reset button, it won’t be fun, in fact it’ll be quite the opposite, but our current trajectory is no good and unsustainable anyway.
