Summary

Elon Musk, after spending $21 million backing conservative Brad Schimel in Wisconsin’s Supreme Court race, amplified election fraud claims following Schimel’s loss to liberal judge Susan Crawford.

Musk boosted a post by Alex Jones featuring Roger Stone, who alleged mail-in vote fraud. Schimel rejected the claims, urging supporters to accept the results.

Musk pivoted to highlighting a voter ID ballot measure, though Wisconsin already requires ID. Critics see his reaction as echoing Trump-era denialism.

Despite GOP pressure, Schimel’s concession stood out for its rare break from MAGA conspiracy rhetoric.

Oh look, Conservatives sowing more doubt and mistrust because they can’t handle it when faced with how unpopular they are.

    Quelle surprise.

Perhaps some leading election deniers are motivated by a psychological defense mechanism, but I think that many realize the strategic benefit. The members of the public who are convinced that Democrats steal elections will vote Republican. They’ll also be more willing to accept a Republican refusing to leave office after losing an election, if things come to that.

Anyone voting Republican after 2017 is a lost cause. No matter what happens they are voting R. Save your breath and sympathy.

I disagree. While I will never forgive those voters, I don’t think most of them are lost causes. They’ve been manipulated by the largest, most well-funded misinformation and propaganda campaign ever waged against the American people.

Exercising even the smallest amount of critical thinking skills protects oneself against most of it, but no one is completely immune to misinformation.

But now that I think about it they both kinda work… sewing the threads of lies.

Yes I’m familiar with the German word Quelle. All bottled carbonated water in Germany seems to come from one Quelle or another.

I’m thinking they were going for the English word “quell”?

            quell /kwĕl/

            transitive verb

            1. To put down forcibly; suppress.

              “Police quelled the riot.”

            2. To pacify; quiet.

              “finally quelled the children’s fears.”

            3. To take the life of; to kill.
              Similar: kill

I guess maybe? Since technically, he did buy it, right? But this is sort of like calling the cops because someone stole your heroin, isn’t it??

He and Trump and GOP aren’t petty there. They inject more distrust about the whole idea of voting. Rich people and corporation can lobby, but they still can’t directly buy an election or a cabinet seat in the open. They spend a lot to push up some candidate after ensuring their loyalty, and it seems suboptimal to them. There is a golden moment where you probably can game the system to make max profits and then grab the bag and run. Because democracies are at least stable, and when they roll into dictatorships, you stop playing solitaire, it’s now blackjack and you are walking a thin line between bankruptcy and being shot dead by a firing squad, because your elected politician has too much power to be securely bought.

I feel like it’s disproportionally favors developing startups\companies\scams who need some boost to start to break even, or old blood that can tolerate some pain if they may consume every other actor on the scene.

There are benefactors to that, and they are the worst people on the market who would only accelerate the collapse for their short term gains.

Hey F’Elon; how about returning those billions of dollars you’ve stolen from the U.S. government (and many other governments) over the past decade.

    Fuck you Elon 🖕

Poor Musk was robbed, he was promised that if he paid generously, the election result would be guaranteed. In the end he was cheated, it’s unfair. Cry, Cry, crocodile tears. 😭

Well, I mean he had an entire security detail deputized by the US Marshalls…so it’s not like he’s just walking out in the open. The guy surrounds himself with sycophants and other billionaires, it’s the only way to completely isolate yourself from reality.

I don’t think he’s really made an actual public appearance since being booed on stage at that chapel show, and that was by people going to see an unfunny transphobe.

OF COURSE it was. Nobody would legitimately not sleep with Musk, I mean not want to be his daughter, I mean, not vote the way he dictated unless there was outside influence.

    Couldn’t be him.
