I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask, but i’m new to Lemmy and looking for a good client to use it with. I’ve been using Sync which is what i used to use with Reddit but i’ve noticed that it isn’t getting updates now. Any other good mobile apps I can usr Lemmy with?
I use Voyager (and boost, and sync before that). I like Voyager (now that I’m used to it), but I wish the medium sized thumbnails in compact mode were slightly larger.
I think there’s a way to make that happen. Sorry I don’t use apps, I just played around with it in the past, but I recall not liking it until someone told me how to make the images larger - buried VERY deep in the customizations somewhere - and then afterwards it became my favorite app (except I don’t actually use apps, but IF I did, it would be Voyager. Or Thunder. And with full sized images that don’t cut parts out.)
I’ll mess with it one day. Just gotta remember to poke around with it.
Blorp has been amazing for me, thats what I am using rn.
2nd blorp!
I like Connect its the most customizable. Boost is my backup.
Still using Memmy even though it‘s a broken pile of rust now. The UI is still the best for me.
I use Jerboa, is fine. Haven’t tried anything else so don’t know what I might be missing.
I also am part of the “I downloaded jerboa first and it’s good enough” crew.
I’m using Voyager — I’m a very superficial user but it gets the job done.
Im using Summit. Its really nice and the developer is active and listens to the community!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.idunnololz.summit
Seconding Summit, it’s a good one
Third for Summit
Fourth for Summit.
Say what you like, Summit Squad are nothing if not dedicated.
Summit is peak!
I replaced Sync which is what I used for Reddit, for Summit. No issues at all and actively developed, unlike Sync. It’s clearly taken a lot of inspiration from Sync’s feature set and I am very happy with it.
That’s the client I use alongside Mlem.
Summit is the best I’ve found that includes piefed integration.
Thunder is cross-platform, and IMO has one of the best looking UIs.
Apollo for reddit was considered one of the best apps. Unfortunately, it was iOS-only.
Voyager for Lemmy is pretty much a clone of it and it also runs on Android. It’s also a progressive web app so you don’t have to download the app off the store if you don’t want to - you can just go to vger.app on your phone and either browse it like that, or install the PWA (basically creates a separate browser profile and everything so it feels like an app, but really you’re using the website, with some of the files living on your phone). If you really wanted to, you could even run it on a desktop browser (or as a PWA on desktop), but it’s really meant for touchscreens, not mouse and keyboard usage.
Oh that’s crazy! I had no idea it was a PWA. Im using Voyager downloaded from f-droid but it’s fun to hear that the core of this is a web app
Yeah hey. It does not feel like a web app at all, never would’ve guessed!
Interstellar https://github.com/interstellar-app/interstellar
I use Raccoon. It’s on Fdroid. Pretty neat UI :)
What is happening with Raccoon? There is no update in a long while now.
hmm I didn’t realise, but nothing is broken for now, nor I’m missing any fratures. Perhaps the dev hasn’t thought of anything new to add
When I started using Raccoon there was one developer who was very active and used to interact regularly. After he burned out it has been almost abandoned like. It is still working. One developer said something like upcoming changes to Lemmy needing too much work to implement.
!boostforlemmy@lemmy.world :) it also has piefed support!
Mlem - replaced Voyager for me.
I’m on android and the app seems to be iOS only sadly, but thanks anyway. Will remember this one if I ever switch to iOS.
Same thing I asked about Voyager: How do I enable seeing downvotes weighted against upvotes? It‘s a dealbreaker if I can‘t.
Settings --> Posts --> Interaction Bar
Then remove the combined up/down thingy and add the separate up and down chips. They show separate numbers.
Then do the same thing under Settings --> Comments --> Interaction Bar.
I’m trying this app out now based on your comment, and so far it seems really nice. I may replace Voyager with it as well.
Boost!
The best by far. He had a great app for that other shit site.
Try it, you’ll like it. Guarantee.
Tried boost for reddit but I didn’t like the ui and it seems like they’ve still got the same ui on the Lemmy version
As in the other comment… You can change all types of UI settings.
Layout, fonts, title font colors, comment font colors, etc.
Honestly, so much available, it’s actually a little overwhelming for me.
The current Lemmy version is very customizable. I think it has seven basic types of views, which are further customizable how you like. You can kinda make it look like whatever you want.
Indeed. Actually more choices than I can even deal with… yet, great!
I’ve been using boost for the past year, and I just switched to Summit last week. Recommend trying it out.
Why? Be specific?
Boost has anything I can think of and it’s a one man show. I like to support him.
Apparently I can’t have separate up/downvote counts and that vexes me
So, where exactly in the Summit app can you have the setting to show BOTH up/down votes?
I can’t find it.
I found it: “Detailed View”.
If that count bothers you, I suggest you stop giving a fuck about “vote” counts. They’re utterly meaningless in Lemmy/ Fediverse.
Don’t tell me what I can get vexed by.
Boo hoo.
Wow so you’re a real asshole huh
There are around 10% more settings. I really like the ones “Automatically save drafts” and “Separate up and down votes”

I’m taking a look.
I tried it for 2 days. Has some interesting features.
However, I definitely prefer being able to control the color spectrum of the fonts in the Title, Comments and Instance.
Makes the flow much easier to identify each section. And the colors I use are less stress on the eyes.
been using boost no complaints
