According to the language of the proposed bill, people who download AI models from China could face up to 20 years in jail, a million dollar fine, or both.

I don’t know why this keeps being echoed as a significant point when generative AI as a replacement for web searches is almost (excepting those with a stake in AI) universally viewed as a terrible idea.
Just to clarify the intent of my last sentence… “google” has become a verb and alphabet has way too much power. I tend to use “Bing it” sarcastically because they’ll never be a serious competitor in the search space and fuck Google.
The reason is because the ai adjusted reality to fit the view of a government, and so the ai should not be used. Now you know, and you can stop wondering why.

The same thing has been done by every AI research organization; there is no such thing as an unaligned AI. Nor should there be.
