    The headline is mistaken. I checked out an article with photos from the scene.

    The limousine was authentic. The place was nice, a few blocks from the FSB headquarters.

    But there was no “tremendous explosion” - the car just burnt. Every house had its windows intact, the car itself had its windows intact while burning, etc.

    Explanations: technical malfunction, passer-by with fire cubes and a lighter.

      Much like Sadam before him, he has a number of body doubles so even if it did appear he was assassinated in public, probably get some story about a miraculous rescue and recovery if acknowledged ‘Putin’ was in the area at all.

          For me the tedious part is not the vacuous character but the people who vote for them.

                man i love voucher-fed education so much. i rented a house that was owned by an obscure religious group with ties to some old-school women’s suffragist AND super gross racism. they had their little private elementary school right next door and me? wouldn’t a hurt a fly, well, might hurt a fly - all these fucks obsessed with biblical morality checked me out via google, and there’s not much to learn that way

      My first thought. Maybe the Russian equivalent: president’s billionaire buddy has a Russian luxury car factory propped up by government money, riddled with problems.

    There’s a high chance that the car is just shit… would be nice if it was an actual assassination attempt but honestly who knows.

      It’s an Aurus, a Russian luxury brand. Knowing Russian automotive engineering, I’m sure the only part that works properly is the engine, which was developed with help from Porsche.

          No that’s the actual definition of the word liberal. We got 300 plus years of liberal history to point to. It’s always the same song and dance. Nothing matters more than private property and Law and Order to a liberal. Everything else will be thrown away in favor of those two things. Every. Single. Time.

          Hell it’s the original sin of our nation. The great liberal thinkers of the American Revolution. Jefferson and Madison and all the rest. What happened when it came time to fulfill their ideals? What happened when it came time to treat all men equal? Oh we can’t have that if we free the slaves we would be upsetting the order of things and depriving men of their private property. Once you understand that complete and utter Ironclad rule of liberal ideology you’ll understand how the last 300 plus years of human history have played out.

            Personal liberty seems like a minimum standard. I should be able to do anything so long as my actions have no impact on anyone or anything else.

            The problems start when these liberties overlap so conplex rules of law are required.

            Actual =/= original.

            Linguistic prescriptiveness is completely useless in terms of what those terms mean in politics now.
