It does make me wonder if JK is actually asexual herself, and feels shame about it. Like how men who claim that “being gay is a choice” often feel that way because they consciously forced themselves to be straight despite their attraction to other men.

This is literally fun to these people. Foaming at the mouth gives them energy, it’s all they can run on anymore. Vapid angst.

the goal of the lgbt isn’t to only reduce oppression. it’s also to raise awareness, because some people might not realise that they might be gay, bi, trans or ace, since our society is heteronormative.

i didn’t know that being ace was a thing, and i felt sad and frustrated that i didn’t have any crushes or felt sexually attracted to anything. when i found out about it, it was relieving that i wasn’t alone. even now when people doubt me or say “you’ll get over it”, i don’t pay mind to them at all, and tell them that asexuals are real, weather they like it or not.

Irony is that the entire Harry Potter series is like discriminating against people for who they are is wrong.

To be fair, I’m pretty sure the slave race of house elves continue being slaves because “they love being slaves”.

Didn’t Hermione lead a campaign to liberate house elves but was laughed at by everyone until she dropped it?

Then Harry frees one elf and is considered a hero while the person trying to solve the systemic problems is a whiny bitch. She’s showing how she thinks about the world with that one.

    Dang. Another censorship-ban.

We need more lemmy communities that are willing to tolerate opposition to the trans agenda.

Nowhere does it say fucking anything about oppression in the picture that she’s losing her shit about here. It’s something that she could’ve literally just scrolled past and gone on with her day. I’m so fucking sick of these people.

I’ll steelman her POV because it seems people are (rightly) confused.

Asexuals are requesting a day of recognition for what she sees as a negative-identity. Keep in mind, conservatives are often meritocratic.

It’s like if there were a day for “coffee refrainers”, for everyone who doesn’t like drinking coffee. I’m sure if someone dunked on that day and the coffee refrainers, it’d all be in good spirits.

But if someone dunked on asexuality, I’m sure it’d cause a lot of upset and defensive argument, which implies more “merit” to asexuality.

While progressives can go “who cares, just leave em be”, conservatives see all “non-deserved” attention as an affront to meritocracy, that needs to be squashed.

This actually really helps me understand her perspective. I think she’s wrong of course, and even harmful, but I appreciate the steelman.
