None of these things will stop the US. What will is a general strike, a new constitutional convention, and the reconstruction of the nation from the ground up.
Trump is the entire reason this is working. All of Trump’s minions are too incompetent to be able to hold everything from crashing down once he croaks. They have a time limit. They’re trying to turn the US into a full blown dictatorship before Trump dies.
Zero shot that a constitutional convention in the near future would be for the better.

I agree that a general strike could do the trick, but the challenge will be getting almost everyone onboard while still allowing the working class to eat and have shelter. By design, working class Americans have little means of weathering a long term general strike, and the upper class has enough wealth to ignore it unless it’s a prolonged effort. A general strike for a few days will not cut it.
It might be “easier” for other countries to start dumping US debt. Not that it’s their responsibility to “save” the US, of course. However, if enough debt was dumped, it would collapse the US economy. This is a nuclear option since it would also hurt the global economy, but would certainly hurt the US the most.
Yeah, a whole-country general strike in America would only last a day, two tops. They don’t have the wherewithal to be good neighbours and politically aligned against monied interests the way a nation-state that has a deeper, older history can.
The history of America is money, interest, and interested money.
Southern plantations, 17th century land ownership, trade in enslaved persons, ranching, gold prospecting… and war.
War against the Indigenous, the French, the Spanish, the Mexica, the French again, the British, the Bolivarians, themselves, and then everyone else, forever.
The way to defeat America is to end its war-making capacity. Explosions, attacks, weathering, budget restrictions, out-competition, and mutually-assured destruction have all failed as gambits. What remains is to undercut the human element — wounding warriors without wielding deadly force. A loss in military preparedness, a disbelief in the stated mission, a war-weariness.
Hot take, this was a way better outcome than carpet bombing Baghdad had. Objectively bad of course, but maybe the US military has actually learned something. I’d argue that Trump is a figurehead for the MIC, and it is telling that they have behaved with relative restraint (relative to Gaza and Ukraine for instance). If he was calling the shots for real how would this have gone down? It’s been obvious since the Nobel prizes that there was a western consensus on regime change in Venezuela. It’s directly related to Ukraine. This is a demonstration that the US military is far more capable than Russia’s, and a message directly to Putin and simultaneously any sub-peer nation considering alignment with Russia or China.

The GOP/ MAGA has been eroding international trust in America for a while now, but realistically, everybody else is on the outside looking in, and even if America removed all women’s rights, including the right to vote, or annexed Panama, all that would happen would be strongly worded protests and further political isolation of America from the rest of the world.
Nobody wants to fight a war against the USA, and barring something cataclysmic like an invasion of Mexico, nobody wants to sanction the largest market in the world.
TL;DR: America would have to become much poorer or much weaker before anybody does anything.
Sanctioning & putting an embargo on US & meanwhile bleeding them dry by going after American big-tech.

Maduro gets to escape his country and save face instead of being assassinated or executed.
Trump gets to manufacture a conflict so he can start martial law and become a dictator, and to distract from us learning he came inside little girls.
My best guess is mass riots/civil war. The main reasons why it’s not happening yet are because Trump still has a good number of supporters and because Americans are - rightfully - afraid of their police (or soldiers) killing them.
Trump is steadily losing his supporters every week, and the number of people at risk of dying due to lack of food or healthcare is increasing. If your life is at serious risk anyway, might as well get a shot at a revolution. And the more people willing to do it with you, the better the chances.
However, I’m not sure how realistic this scenario is. I’m concerned that a change of government for a slightly better one may be enough for most Americans to calm down. After all, they’re very much used to being abused by their elites, whether they realize it or not.
Regimes like this only respond to incredible violence. They believe rules and laws and norms that don’t serve them don’t apply to them. All the systems designed to resist this bullshit are ignored completely because they just opt out of society’s rules while rewriting them on the fly to serve exclusively them.
This ends a couple of different ways. One is they encounter a bigger bully. They are all loyalists that cannot strategize, cooperate, and execute a plan. It’s yes men all the way down. So if someone powerful enough takes a swing, they don’t have the ability to respond. In this case, Canada invading the US with resources supplied by other nations concerned they are next makes the most sense. This administration wouldn’t be able to respond with anything other than tantrums online and on TV.
The other way this ends is letting them do whatever they want. They need an enemy to survive. Eventually they run out of enemies and have to invent new ones. We are already at that point. They divide the population up into good guys and bad guys and eliminate the bad guys, then they do it again, getting smaller and smaller each time until there’s no longer enough people left to sustain them. This is not the way we want as most of the US would have to die off for it to work but it is sort of the default mode of extinction for fascism.
The only method that works with fascists and results in the fewest casualties is incredible overwhelming violence. It’s been done before and worked because it was the best option, even if it’s still a terrible one.
But here’s where the propaganda machine protects the fascists. People are already ready for the incredible violence. The country is on a cliff edge right now. But we are so divided and dependent on TV and social media that we are told to attack eachother instead of the fascists. Most of us don’t want to do that.
So we wait for extinction.
I hate to say it, but there’s no fast answer to that question.
The best answer seems to be what most smart countries are doing right now… slowly unwinding their dependency on the US and finding alternative suppliers for everything critical they need so they can get the leverage they need to criticize and resist. This has the added benefit of isolating the US economically, reducing its currency’s ability to influence things.
Over time the US will grow less and less able to throw its weight around, and eventually a tipping point will be reached where picking an ideological fight with the US won’t have a major impact. That’s when the US will be stopped.
I think the wealthy will get US/corporate-friendly far-right governments in place in many of these countries before countries are able to isolate the US without collapsing their own economy. Seems to be the way things are going at least (far-right politics gaining support nearly everywhere).

Logically that makes sense for an elongated timeline, but that also assumes the US doesn’t ramp up their actions, which sadly seems to be the case. So the question is “what then?”
Nations can’t ignore the fact that the US has one of the most active militaries in the world. Our Navy is more of less second to none and we have nukes. In the hands of a normal president, we might be fine but you sure as heck know that Trump and his Project 2025 people are just itching to launch one.
This is a situation where there are no good options. The best you can do is continue political pressure, get other nations to rally behind you in the hopes of creating a strong economic resistance.
But the real answer is that we, the US citizens, need to fucking take this country back. I hate to say it but protests simply aren’t enough anymore.

Remove the bases in europe and you can only project power with as many you can pile up on an aircraft carrier.
B-2 bombers have a huge range of 11,000 km, that’s extended further by tanker aircraft. They can strike any target in the world. They are better with a fighter escort though, that don’t have that range, and only a single pilot, shortening possible mission time.
The US also has bases around the world outside of Europe. These could be shifted elsewhere, depending on need. The American military is a phenomenal logistics machine. They can fly and ship immense amounts of materiel and can construct huge bases quickly.
There are several middle eastern and Asian countries that host large American bases. The big bases built in Europe, especially Germany act as a hub for the ones in Africa and the Middle East. A place for supplies, hospitals, training, etc. in a safe and nice place.
China is still a fair bit away from having that kind of power projection.
I seem to remember reading that the US navy comes in second (which makes sense considering that a single carrier has a larger air wing than most countries air forces) but the point still stands.
