    Transcript:

Elon Musk rage quit a livestream of the video game Path of Exile 2 on Saturday night after repeatedly dying while also being ruthlessly cyberbullied in the chat.

Path of Exile 2 is one of Musk’s favorite games—so much so that he once claimed to be one of the world’s top players in an attempt to boost his gamer cred, before later backtracking and admitting that he had been secretly paying people to level up his account to make him appear more talented at it than he was.

Nevertheless, while attempting to show off Starlink’s in-flight WiFi capabilities while onboard his private jet over the weekend, Musk streamed himself playing some PoE2 on the hardest difficulty, which was broadcast live on X.

The DOGE chief was, predictably, terrible at the game, but that was the least of his problems—Less than five minutes into the stream, a player logged on and asked Musk if he could “please jerk off mr trump so he dies of a heart attack.” It only got worse from there.

For the next hour and a half, Musk sat in stony-faced silence and blasted techno music while dozens of users with names such as ELON_IS_A_PEEDOPHILE and ELON_MUSK_IS_PATHETIC repeatedly spammed the chat to tell him “YOU HAVE NO FRIENDS AND YOU WILL DIE ALONE” and “YOU WILL ALWAYS FEEL INSECURE AND IT WILL NEVER GO AWAY.”

It’s me, Ashley St. Claire. I have no other means of contacting you so I bought PoE2 early access. Please pay your child support. Thank you Elon,” said an account pretending to be the conservative influencer currently locked in a custody battle with Musk over their five-month-old child, while another said his estranged daughter Vivian “was right” about him being terrible at video games.

Some streamers attempted to help Musk out by trying to show him how to mute the chat function, while others encouraged people to “Buy TSLA” and thanked him for his work with Starlink and DOGE, but they were drowned out by a cavalcade of abuse from gamers relished the opportunity to give the billionaire a piece of their mind.

WHAT HAPPENED BUDDY?”

But aside from muting a couple of the loudest trolls after almost an hour of sustained abuse, Musk did little to stop the army of trolls from relentlessly mocking him.

Eventually, he vanished when his WiFi connection abruptly cut out and ended the stream, which he later deleted from X but was swiftly reuploaded onto YouTube.

    Compare and contrast:

    • Elon Musk Rage Quits Livestream After Getting Ruthlessly Cyberbullied by Gamer
    • Eventually, he vanished when his WiFi connection abruptly cut out and ended the stream, which he later deleted from X but was swiftly reuploaded onto YouTube.

He was showing off Starlink wifi while on a plane. Isn’t it possible his connection got dropped? Or at least, if you rage quit doesn’t there have to be some rage?

All the more reason to give him hell for doing a terrible job. If you can’t handle the heat get out of the kitchen.

Dude unfortunately has no problem throwing a match over his shoulder when leaving the kitchen or even to return later to do so.

I think, everybody living in former Eastern block countries, in former East Germany, in former Germany in the 1930s/40s has a story of someone being gone after telling the wrong joke a little too loud. Sometimes they came back but they were different. Often they didn’t. You do not know where that regime will be in three years, using opsec now probably isn’t a bad idea in hindsight.

While you’re not wrong, I hate this line of thinking - it gives them too much power if we start censoring ourselves because they might retaliate.

The hard part is finding an acceptable balance between good OPSEC but not pre-emptive compliance.

You should be careful to tackle the gaming community. There are many nerds and script kiddies who are well connected and who have little troubles to make your life less happy. Something which did not exist in the Eastern block, and especially not in Eastern Germany - remember: it wasn’t Eastern Germany where the revolts started against the regime! They just jumped on the train. Not few Eastern Germans are dreaming nowadays to have something like the German Democratic Republic back.

Oh, I thought it was because he died to the tutorial boss on a game he’s supposedly pro at.

Path of exile is hard, but not at the start. Even on the first play through, most people are clearing the first boss without death. On subsequent play through you shouldn’t ever die. Elon has never actually played the game, so he has no clue.

It’s also not even close to as hard as Dark Souls. No Rest for the Wicked is more souls like ARPG.

The unusual part is not that he sucked, but that he was presenting himself as a top player (because he bought an account).

Like, if I hand the controller to someone who’s never played Demon Souls and they get wrecked by the first few skeletons or wev, that makes sense. If someone brags about being among the top Demon Souls players in the world, and they can’t make it through the first level, that’s odd.

Most of us grow out of thinking our skills at video games have much significance or bearing on our self image, so it’s very odd to see an adult that feels the need to lie about their competence at a video game. If instead of buying an account and pretending to be a top player, he had been honest - “hey y’all, just going to show off Starlinks ability to stream by checking out PoE2!” - well, at most people might be making fun of him for taking time to play video games instead of running the dozen companies he supposedly does, but it wouldn’t be this pathetic.

Notice that despite the awesome trolling, it wasn’t until someone called him dumb and ugly that it elicited a response from him. Calling him out for being a piece of shit doesn’t work, denigrating the attributes he built a superiority complex on…ohhh fuck yeah that shit burns him real good.

Look, I don’t like the guy, but the article says he played until his Wifi cut out. I didn’t see where he actually rage quit.

That description doesn’t do it justice.

Find a video, it’s the fakest “disconnect”. If he wasn’t such a shit it would be heartbreaking but he deserves it. Absolutely without a doubt rage quit.

He was demoing how great his starlink wifi is. He either bitch quit or his product demo failed worse than a ball going through a cyber truck window. Either way this piece of shit sucks.

That’s my favorite thing about it. Not only did the chat get under his skin, but he also failed to prove the starlink in-flight wifi capability - the reason he was streaming in the first place. He failed on all fronts

Dude faking a D/C is the oldest gamer move possible. Sometimes you just wanna go to bed and you can’t be bothered to run Scolo one more time, but you don’t want your friends to think you’re an asshole who prefers sleep to min/maxing so you turn off your network connection and leave the game up. Very simple.
