Naturally, it’s Ankylosaurus. Just look at this armoured tactical turtle and tell me you do not love this silly little guy!
Just wanting to eat his plants. Wanna gnaw on him? Tough luck, it hurts and you cannot crack that shell. Also, he will fucking break your kneecaps with his built-in hammer while you’re bothering him.
Spirit animal.
Any dead one. They are f-ing dangerous.
Iguanodon. Also known as the Bro-asaurus.
Ankylosaurus is a strong contender. Really strong contender. But stegosaurus is still MVP.

Dinosaur? None really. But I really like the explosion of life in the Cambrian (give or take a little) period was like nature trying out all kinds of absolutely crazy shit just to see what worked. I really like just checking out the era, truly alien and bizarre. So no favorite dinosaur, but definitely an era.
Protoceratops because I am completely convinced they would be cool hanging out on the couch, playing fetch, and otherwise acting like a dinosaur house pet.
The lad with the thagomizer. Because of the thagomizer.
Stegosaurs! For those who don’t know how the name came about, look it up if you’d like a chuckle.
Steggy sore ass
This thread is the best booster-pack.
Quetzalcoatlus. Technically it isn’t a dinosaur but that makes it - and me accordingly - even more special.
Same. Giraffe-sized flying nightmare with the wingspan of a Cessna that can swallow you whole. Hell yeah.
Hell yeah, Ankylosaurus! That little doom wagon has been my favorite since I was a little kid!
Really surprised to see that he inspired the post to begin with, as most people don’t know what it is!
Heck yeah! !Ankmemes@sh.itjust.works is calling
Ankies rock! Check out this mummified then petrified Nodosaur (a type of Ankylosaur)

It is so INSANE they found this. Just the astronomical odds of everything coming together like that…
Agreed. It’s mind blowing
I am glad I showed it to my mother before she died. Because I was like, “they found a fucking dinosaur, LOOK AT IT!”, and she was like “Holy shit!”.
Heck yeah! Borealopelta in the house!!! Have you seen this in person? I was thoroughly intimidated! It was like looking at a dragon or something. So cool!
I have not been up to Alberta yet. I’ve been wanting to take my son
The Tyrrell has some fantastic displays! Their Tyrannosaur section really makes you empathize with the Jurassic Park lawyer. Black Beauty is particularly magnificent. I highly recommend the town of Drumheller as well. Lots of wacky dino statues around town. They lean heavily into the motif.
The Tyrrell is exactly the museum I’m after. Thank you for the further recommendations!
Sauropods because BIG
But really, I mean look at those things!! They traveled together in herds and the size of them meant that as they walked, the strata of the earth was fucking shuffled. How cool is that???
Denver, the Last Dinosaur
He’s my friend and a whole lot more!
Apparently Pterodactyls aren’t Dinosaurs :(
Also, I think this belongs here: https://www.theguardian.com/science/2025/oct/23/dinosaurs-asteroid-struck-research
